Windows Dedicated server : Changing password in Plesk

On a Windows dedicated server it might be possible that you are worried about the security of the server more than anything else. So the first step of security is to have a good password. This step is often not considered by many of the dedicated server users but you should be considered about this. The password should be a good one and even if it is, make sure that you change it quite often. You can easily have a password for your Windows Dedicated server Hosting through Plesk which is a control panel of Windows Dedicated server.

Following are the steps which will help you change password of your Windows Dedicated server with the help of Plesk :-

1) Login to Plesk control panel and once you are logged in click on “Domain Administrator”.

2) You will now be able to see all your domain preferences as they are seen in Plesk.

3) The boxes you have to see are,

a. New password

b. Confirm password

4) Now type the password you wish into the “New Password” text box.

5) It is recommended that your password should be in the form of 6-8 alpha-numeric combination and make sure that your password does not include anything which is very easy to guess i.e. your username, your name etc.

6) Now you have to type the same password in the “Confirm Password” text box. Scroll down the page until you see the OK button. click the OK button and you have completed the process.

You can also change your FTP password and the steps for the same are given below :-

1) come to the main Plesk start page and Click on “Setup” and you will find this under “Hosting”.

2) Make sure that this password is also in the form of the password you have for your Dedicated server i.e. 6-8 alpha-numeric combination.

3) Type the password you wish to keep in the “New FTP password” text box.

4) Confirm the password in the “Confirm Password” text box which is also provided.

5) Scroll down and you will have to Click the OK button once you see it.

The process of the setting up the passwords has been completed and you now have a set of passwords which might make your server more secured than it was before.
